Geo a provider of dedicated fibre networks, today announced that it has signed a 5-year contract worth £235,000 for a fibre connection between two key data centres with iomart, a managed hosting and data centre services providers.
The company states that it has constructed and delivered optical fibre directly into iomart's newly acquired Nottingham and Leicester data centres. It says that this dedicated network enables iomart to provide high speed data replication services as well as Internet Transit between the two sites. It claims that the use of dedicated fibre will give iomart the flexibility and scalability required to cope with rising customer demands and at the same time future-proof their network.
"Because we can deliver complete managed hosting solutions - from domain name to data centre - we aren't reliant on third party data centre operators and are able to offer our clients a 100% business uptime guarantee," said Sarah Haran, Managing Director, iomart. "It was therefore imperative that our network partner could demonstrate a similar approach in terms of performance guarantees, accountability, quality and value to those that we offer our own client base. Geo convinced us of its ability to deliver on all counts."
"Geo's solution will enable iomart to meet the demands of all its customer business types - from the web enabled SME to the large corporate running complex web applications and services, allowing customers to easily scale to 10G and beyond." added Chris Smedley, Chief Executive, Geo. "This network will allow quality high speed internet connectivity at relatively low cost, but with the all the resilience and assurance that today's businesses require."
